Vine Brief is a one-person operation which is written, edited, and curated by me, James.
To make that possible without sacrificing quality, I use AI-assisted tools to handle time-consuming parts of the workflow. It allows me to focus on what actually matters: tasting, researching producers, and writing with intention.
How Vine Brief uses AI
I use AI-assisted tools to support parts of our editorial workflow, such as crawling for online information, summarizing winery announcements, and building recommendation tools to match subscribers with wines they’ll love.
What AI does not do
Think of it as a smart assistant, not an author. It does not replace human judgment, palate experience, or editorial decision-making.
Every bottle recommendation, tasting note, and newsletter edition is reviewed, refined, and approved by me — a WSET Level 2 certified wine professional. All wine details (producers, regions, vintages, pricing, and awards) are verified before publication.
AI outputs are treated as starting points and never as finished work.
Our philosophy
Vine Brief is (and will remain) human-led.
Using AI transparently and responsibly helps the newsletter stay focused and independent. It lets me devote more time to thoughtful wine coverage — and less time to busywork.
